I am so happy to say that I have almost used up 2 packages of Christmas DSP! Woo! Hoo! As an added bonus, I actually have a few Christmas cards too!! Yea, Me! (sorry...too much Disney channel...) My oldest DD looked at my cards yesterday and asked "Christmas? Already?" She is quite the procrastinator as well, and was in complete awe when I told her that some people make them year round! That's my girl!!
So I have finished sketch #3 from Merry Monday. I took a little liberty with the sketch and turned the base but kept the elements the same to fit my stamp. I also pulled out one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets. Sadly, it hasn't seen ink in over a year since I didn't use it for last year's Christmas cards.
It was a little odd making Christmas cards inside and then going out into the sweltering heat to watch the girls play ball! Sort of like being in a time warp...wait...maybe that's just my life!
Hope you have a marvelous weekend and happy crafting!
Card Recipe: Cardstock-real red, very vanilla, Merry Moments DSP, Ink-crumb cake, soft suede (distressing), Stamp Set-Miracle of Christmas, Accessories-Petals a Plenty folder, pear pizzazz seam binding (ret), linen thread, vanilla shimmer smooch
My site is named after my Black Lab, Shadow. Shadow received his name by being my constant shadow including while I am crafting. The running joke in my family was that due to the whole 'Labs shed A LOT', everything I created had a signature 'Shadow' hair hidden somewhere... While Shadow is no longer with us, I am lovingly reminded of him every time a random hair shows up in my craft room. Like our loved ones, Lab hair never really leaves us and that is a pretty comforting thought!
LOL, I came over to thank you for the giggle I got at your comment on my blog - I am SO making a sandy claws card this Christmas!- and I got another giggle at your post. I recently spent the weekend at my friend Linda's and found myself singing along to the theme songs to all the kiddy shows, and speaking to her girls like a Nickelodeon TV presenter!
ReplyDeleteI love your DD is a procrastinator too. There should be more of us. :)

What a beautiful card and to think you will be done with Xmas cards when everyone is just starting to think about it. I love the layout and embossing. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful Christmas stamp well done a gorgeous card Hugs Elaine .
ReplyDeleteHad to chuckle when reading your blog ...too much disney , what are you like !!
WWO!! Margaret, this is gorgeous. Love that image and the way you sponged around it is so perfect. A beautiful card for Christmas.

Perhaps you've given me the nudge to get going on my Christmas cards. Every year I end up stressing over them and if I'd do what you've done I wouldn't, would I. Moral of the story--make your Christmas cards early. I love your card and now I am off to see what this Sandy Claws is all about, hmmm...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Lisa S.
P.S. I still haven't thought of a great name for the baby gnome, YET. ;)
this is such a beautiful Christmas card Margaret-I so want to start making Christmas cards as well. Soon I hope!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely Christmas card Margaret. My husband is like your daughter in thinking Christmas cards now? My Christmas SAS start next month so have been playing with different designs. Oh and there is nothing odd about making cards inside and then going outside into sweltering heat - that happens here in Aus. What is strange is walking around shopping centres at Christmas when it is sweltering outside and the music playing is "Walking in a Winter wonderland."
ReplyDeleteWhat's the time frame? How much do you have to use up before you get new???? I'm a little envious that you're being so efficient with the holiday cards, but on the other hand, I'm so inspired by your beautiful work. This is a gorgeous Christmas card and it's nice to see the older stamps inked up again! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. Stay hydrated! This heat is aweful. :( Bah!!
Hugs,
Lisa
You have inspired me to do something for Christmas this weekend! Maybe pulling out some snowflakes will make me feel cooler- it's supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow! EEK!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I was just telling my husband I planned to put some Christmas music on and make some more cards this week. I think the heat finally go to my brain. Hee-hee :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteGood for you ! I need to get inspired by you and start holiday cards as well as use up old supplies, too =)
