Scrapbook Wednesday with a hint of Flashback Friday

Hi! So glad you stopped by to visit my blog today!  I decided to rearrange my scrapbook posting day to Wednesday instead of Monday.  I'm hoping this will give me a little more time between design teams to get my regular posts on here. I'm also calling this a hint of Flashback Friday because I have used a lot of retired goodies from my stash on this layout.

The pictures are from a few years ago when DD#2 was chosen as the student of the month for her class.  As if that recognition wasn't enough to make her head swell, she was then chosen as the corporation's student of the month for the entire elementary school.  She received a very nice award at the school board meeting and even had her name on the school's message board.  We were a little proud as well!  I wanted both pictures on one page and since she wore pink in one picture and red in the other, I thought Sending Love DSP would work nicely.  There are hints of glitter in the DSP which DD loved.  I used an old Page Maps sketch for the layout and as I was working on the layout and digging through my stash, I found a pretty in pink scallop circle from who knows where.  This sparked the idea for the little 'flower' embellishment on the bottom half.

Well, I think I hear a mountain of dirty laundry calling my name... better go tell it to be quiet :P

Scrapbook Monday-The big 5-0

Hello and welcome to another Scrapbook Monday!  I am so glad you popped in to visit!

A few years ago, we had a surprise 50th birthday party for my sister.  Her birthday is a week before my daughter and she thought she was going to my daughter's party.  She was very surprised when she walked in and saw black decorations and lots of people yelling at her!  My oldest sister and I did the decorations for the party and my girls made her a crown made of black pipe cleaners and purple beads.  We also found these awesome pink and purple feather boas at the dollar store and had to buy two for the birthday girls to wear.

I also started an album for her as a gift and here I am, a few years later, finally working on the pages...Since we decorated with lots of black, I went with that as the primary color and accented it with purple (my sister's favorite color!).  I'm hoping to get this album finished this week and maybe she'll get it before her next birthday!

Today's page is when she walked in and was crowned 'Queen for a Day'.  There's not a lot of SU product on this since I already had a packet of black and ivory scrapbooking supplies from a wedding project many moons ago.  Using up more of my stash...Yee! Haw!

Don't you just love my little blinged out owl?  Owls are another of my sis's favorite things.  I tried to replicate the whole crown theme with pearls and I think it turned out pretty good.  Well, time for me to get back to work.  I'm forcing myself to do more cleaning than crafting for the first few days of my break.  Hopefully I'll make enough progress to spend my last few days being super crafty.  Wish me luck!

Cheetah Girl!

Here we are again with another Scrapbook Monday post!  Today's page features actual photos from 2011 (ooohs and aaahhs from the crowd).  I decided I better work on my newer photos as well as the older ones or I would forget what they were for...  This is from my DD's birthday party.  She is a cheetah fanatic and this attraction is fed by her 'fairy Godmother', who is also my sister.  This year she received a bath towel and a ultra chic scarf from her aunt.  Daddy thought he might look good in animal prints as well and tried on her scarf.  My layout was based on a sketch from Simply Stampin' Challenge.  This was their challenge a few weeks ago, but I didn't get around to creating with it until now.

Her scrapbooks are already full of layouts using cheetah/leopard prints, and quite frankly, I'm tired of using them! So I went with a sahara sand base, brown accents, and added just a hint of the animal print by using strips of fleece material as ribbon.

The background print was made using versamark, clear embossing powder, and a quick shot from the heat gun (have I mentioned my fascination with this process??)  The rest is pretty self-explanatory

No Really...Scrapbook Pages!!

In case the title didn't give it away, I am extremely far behind on my scrapbooking. I don't even want to admit how many unfinished projects are sitting on my shelf right now... But, this weekend, due to both rainy weather and a change in schedule, I was able to set aside some crafting time. As much as I wanted to make cards, I am ahead of schedule on my birthday and anniversary cards so I decided I had better tackle some scrapbooking.
My husband's nephew is getting married later this month. His fiance's family made the bridal shower invitations, so I gave her a very pretty unfinished photo album, thinking she might want to make the pages herself.  After seeing the card I made for her shower, she asked me if I would do the pages for her instead! So I am in the process of working on their wedding album.  Since I am including some pictures from the wedding on the pages, they are not expecting the album to be finished by the wedding date, but I would like to have the majority of it completed before then! Two down, 18 to go...
The bridesmaids are wearing latte colored dresses and the flowers are in a variety of fall colors. I decided to go with a more monochromatic color palette with just a few splashes of color.  Here are two of the pages I finished (minus photos).

I used up a lot of retired DSP on these pages. Since I went through all of my DSP to find papers with the right color scheme, I didn't think to chick which packs they came from but I think these are Woodland Walk and Elegant Soiree. I used Sahara Sand as my base and the photos will be mounted on the Early Espresso cardstock. Other supplies used were vintage flowers (ret), early espresso ribbon (ret), brads (some ret.), Four Frames and Notes & Details stamp sets, decorative label and 5 petal flower punches, pear pizzazz marker and cardstock, crumb cake and early espresso markers, log cabin and vanilla shimmer Smooch Spritz.  I also used some non SU letter brads and some prima flowers (thanks Kelly!)
