Well...Owl be...

Happy Valentines Day!  We don't really do a lot for Valentines day at our home.  The girls share cards with their classmates and friends, but other than that, it's a lot like any other day.

My oldest DD just celebrated her 13th birthday and since she loves owls and purple, I combined those to make her card.  Let me tell you, it's not so easy to be inspired by purple owls, but she loved her card, so I guess that's all that matters!!  Sorry about the not so great photo quality.  It was overcast when I took this picture, and too cold to be outside!

I used a lot of goodies from my scrap box and some purple glitter glue from my girls craft supply.  The sentiment was created on my computer and the inside says "Well, OWL be darned!"

I was so looking forward to an evening of eating out, when she informs me the morning of her birthday that she wanted my pork roast with carrots and potatoes.  Fortunately, I only had a morning class on her birthday and was able to get everything into the crock pot and had it ready for dinner!  Maybe my DH will fix dinner tonight... After all, it is Valentines Day!

Just a reminder that there is still time to be entered in my blog candy giveaway!

Card Recipe: Cardstock-whisper white, perfect plum, wild wasabi, tan paper from stash, Ink-perfect plum, rich razzleberry, peach parfait marker, Stamp Set-Punch Bunch, Accessories-owl punch, modern label punch, scallop oval punch

  1. Isn't one of the best things about papercrafting how we can customize things for people we love? Purple owls are definitely unique! Have a fun day!

  2. I absolutely love those glittery owls. What a perfect Birthday Card.
Happy Valentines Day Margaret. We don't do anything too special here either. I get my guys their favorite chocolate to celebrate the day and if I am lucky we will grab something to go for dinner.

Margaret, you leave such lovely comments for me....thank you! I've actually (at last!) taken the time to have a good ol' snoop around your place, and love it so much that I'm now stalkin' you.....ta-daa!

  6. Eeeek!!! You're one of us now. MOAT, Mother of a Teen. May God grant you patience and great understanding and extra thick hair that doesn't fall out easily. LOL!
HAPPY Birthday to your baby girl and those purple owls freakin' ROCK!
P.S. Did the hubby cook last night or did you have to revert to staring blankly into the freezer and sighing?

    Hugs to you my friend!

  7. Love your card and Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter. My DD also loves owls and have you noticed that they are EVERYwhere right now. She actually wants a live owl as a pet but with two cats and a dog running around she'll have to wait until she's on her own. :-)
I totally agree with Lisa M's prayer but I have to say that I have one of each and girls are SOOOO much easier than boys. Your daughter sounds like a precious soul and I love her card. Purple owls, right on! Love your play on words too!!

  10. So purple owls do sound a little scary, but they are way tooo adorable. lol I just love them. Funny how some things scare you when you think about them, but turn out cute on paper. This happens to me all the time. Fantastic card!
